PACT Enterprise Awards:  Proud of Philly, Proud of our Collective Grit, Proud of our Companies

The 2019 Enterprise Awards were held last night at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.  True to the resurgence of Philadelphia, this event has returned to Center City over the last five years after being held for several years in the hotel and casino landscape of City Avenue and King of Prussia.  This black-tie event does a great job pulling together the PACT ecosystem that supports the entrepreneurial community in Philadelphia while honoring leading entrepreneurial companies.

During the event, the emergence of grit as a core theme for positioning Philly to the outside world was presented based on much research.  According to Angela Duckworth, who wrote the book Grit, grit is defined as the combination of persistence and passion.  Is there a better word to describe this town and its resurgence on the national and international scene?  Is there a better word to describe successful entrepreneurs like those who were honored last night?

The Enterprise Awards are a showcase for many of the rising stars on the technology and life science scene in the Greater Philadelphia region.  Several hundred companies were nominated and submitted applications and three finalists were chosen for each category.  Osage Venture Partners was fortunate to have invested in finalists in each of the four technology categories and to have two of these companies named winners.  We are very proud to be associated with:

  • DrayNow: Start-up Technology Company – Winner
  • AppBus: Emerging Technology Company – Winner
  • InstaMed: Technology Company of the Year – Finalist
  • Sidecar: Technology CEO Andre Golsorkhi – Finalist

Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists and nominees.  Congratulations to PACT and to Philly.

Maybe this event needs to be renamed The Grit Awards.
